Dr. Shobeiri is currently the professor and Vice Chair Gynecologic subspecialties of OBG at Virginia Commonwealth University Inova Fairfax Campus in Falls Church, Virginia. He came to OU in 2002 as the first fellowship trained physician in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery in Oklahoma. Prior to settling in Oklahoma, he obtained his Bachelor degree from the University of Washington in Seattle, MD from TUFTS University in Boston, and completed his residency and fellowship at Tulane and LSU in New Orleans. We have established OU Pelvic and Bladder Health Center which now encompasses an ABOG/ABU accredited 3 year fellowship program, ICS accredited fellowship program, Pelvic Floor Investigation Group (PFIG), OU Basic Science Pelvic Floor Laboratory, and OU International Ultrasound workshop. Dr. Shobeiri has been the recipient of research and educational awards.He is a grant reviewer for ACOG, AUGS, and American Federation for Aging Research. He is a manuscript reviewer for Urology, Journal of Urogynology & pelvic floor Dysfunction, American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Neurourology & Urodynamics, and Journal of Pelvic Medicine and Surgery.He has authored numerous articles in scientific journals as well as several chapters for textbooks standard to the field of Urogynecology. He has chaired ultrasound workshops at the International Continence Society, IUGA, and multiple institutions around the world. Additionally he has served on the Research and the Program committees at AUGS. His clinical interests include vaginal agenesis and structural abnormalities.His research interests include basic science neuroanatomy and study of pelvic floor injury using 3D sonography.
